Vintage 1960s Brualist Danish Modern Oak Dining Chairs style of Henning Kjærnulf
A chair with a sleek, refined silhouette. Unlike many pieces from this era, it has no horizontal supporting elements, giving it a light and airy presence. Yet it dramatically contrasts this with its baroque, almost brutalist carvings on the backrest—details that stand out all the more against the clean, tapered legs, which still carry traces of Kjærnulf’s bold, sculptural style.
These chairs have undeniable character, demanding a home with personality to match.
Crafted in Denmark in the 1960s/70s, inspired by Henning Kjærnulf’s Brutalist / Baroque Bold style. Each chair is solid with no damage to the wood, and fabric in good shape with only a few spots here and there, which we have taken photos of (the mark hasn't been tried removed). Though we recomend a reupholstery in the future (4-5 years), these chairs has completely useful and firm foam inside, and no smell or ugly stains or damage to the fabric. Structure is good and everything is firm.
The wood has developed a beautiful patina, with each chair displaying unique aging while still clearly belonging together as a set from the same home.
These chairs are in good vintage condition, with the original upholstery well-maintained and the wood and stability still in great shape.
Pair these 6 vintage oak dining chairs with one of our mid-century solid oak extension tables, also in the style of Kjærnulf, for a cohesive look. Alternatively, mix them with a modern table to create a contrast between classic and contemporary design.
