Vintage 1960s Danish Low Back Lounge Chairs in Light Oak, Henning Kjærnulf style
A stunning mid-century set of Danish lounge chairs in the style of Henning Henry Kjærnulf, crafted in the 1960s/70s by an unknown Danish cabinetmaker. Built from solid oak and retaining its original Savak wool upholstery, the piece captures the timeless elegance of Scandinavian modernism—functional, comfortable, and sustainably made.
The chair features its original cushions with epeda metal spring frames (one chair instead has full foam cushions). Both the seat and backrest provide excellent support and comfort. Signs of age and use are present—most notably a small tear on the front, as shown in photos—but overall condition is very good. The cushions are removable, reversible, and straightforward to reupholster if desired, while the oak frame remains exceptionally sturdy, stable, and in excellent shape.
With its open, airy design and beautifully detailed woodwork along the sides, the chair balances strength with lightness. The natural oak grain highlights the craftsmanship, giving the piece both refinement and warmth.
These easy chairs embodies the best of Danish modern design with a touch of the baroque and nordic brutalist influences: comfort, practicality, and enduring style—ready to be enjoyed as is or refreshed for decades to come.
