Hans J. Wegner Dining Chairs in Teak Model CH-31 by Carl Hansen & Søn
This is a very rare set of CH31 dining chairs designed by Hans J. Wegner in 1956. These chairs come from a significant era in design history, combining sharp, classic lines with an oriental touch, reflecting inspiration from ancient Chinese designs. This teak model is incredibly rare, and all six chairs come from the same home, having had only one owner. One of a kind set, only set in teak for sale on the market at the moment.
These chairs are not only perfect for hosting dinners, but they also serve as pieces of art. Sculptural in nature, they are like paintings—truly unique. Teak versions of this model are rarely seen. I’ve paired them with a Henning Kjærulf-style brutalist baroque table, which complements the elegance of the CH31 with its rough, solid light-oak design.
All six chairs have a stamp indicating in the wood for the production year of 1967, and two of them still retain the original sticker from Carl Hansen & Søn.
New weaving can be done for €2200 for all six chairs, covering both the back and seat.
There are two chairs with a small crack at the top of one of the front legs. This is only a visual imperfection, and there are no structural issues or other flaws. The weaving is original, still in good condition, and solid. The chairs can be used as they are. However, the patina and color differences are noticeable on the back and seat, and there are a few spots where the weaving is broken. Despite this, the seat remains firm and intact. Please refer to the pictures for close-up details of these imperfections.
