Vintage Danish Art Deco Pair of Armchairs in Solid Oak - 1940s

€4,333.00

A pair of beautiful Solid Oak Armchairs from the 1940s which also feature a wide couch as an extra option to match. The chairs were produced entirely in Denmark, with its previous owners taking great care of all these three pieces, something that shows clearly thanks to their wonderful condition.

As part of the set they were naturally constructed into, these armchairs are both traditional and practical, reflecting the mid-century Danish focus on everyday comfort and durable construction. Their solid oak frame is eye-catching, with beautifully shaped arms and turned legs which add strength to the design. The back and seat have all been upholstered in a woven fabric with a soft, neutral palette of beige and muted greens featuring a traditionally floral Art Deco motif. The armrests' height is 65cm (25,6 in.)

The seats remain firm and supportive, with intact foam and solid internal webbing, ensuring long-lasting comfort. The wood has been carefully cleaned and oiled, bringing out its natural tone and highlighting the small variations that come with age. There are minor signs of wear consistent with its years, but overall the piece is in excellent structural and visual condition. Please check the more detailed photos for the precise tone and colour of the wood.

The fabric shows signs of use on the corners and edges — please see our photos. There are no holes or tears, and it can be used as is in its current condition.

These two armchairs will fit wonderfully into both modernist and traditional interiors, both as a pair, an entire set including the couch, or pairing well with other oak or mid-century Scandinavian furniture whilst offering comfortable, durable seating with a simple, well-crafted design which can boast over seventy years of character.
