Having been lovingly preserved together in the same home for several decades with only one owner, their shared provenance adds a remarkable history to them. A truly unique feature on both cabinets is a distinct, symmetrical sun-stained band running along the top; a beautiful patina formed where shelves once protected the rosewood, creating an accidental stripe that chronicles their long history.
Hundevad, an apprentice-trained Danish cabinetmaker who founded his own company in 1947, imbued his designs with a masterful blend of form and function. Each sideboard features locking doors that open to reveal practical, adjustable internal shelves and light birch storage trays, offering a beautiful contrast to the dark exterior. In a careful restoration, the original skirting was replaced with solid, cylindrical lightly conical teak legs, mounted into the original bolt fittings.
