This Danish coffee table from the 1920s combines Northern European craftsmanship with classic Continental elegance. The circular top is finished in richly figured burr walnut veneer, arranged in a balanced pattern that highlights the natural grain. A carved pie-crust edge frames the top. The cabriole legs feature shell and acanthus details at the knees and end in solid ball-and-claw feet, giving the table both strength and character.
Sourced from a farmhouse in southern Zealand, Denmark, the table has been professionally re-polished to enhance its warm patina. It remains in excellent structural condition, with minor age-related wear that reflects its history and authenticity.
As seen in the photos, the table also features its original plaque underneath, bearing the name of the Carpentry and Cabinet-making firm Anders Svendsen in Copenhagen. The firm was founded in 1906 by master cabinetmaker Anders Svendsen (1864-1946), continued by first his son Frithjof Svendsen (1894-1976) and then his grandson Anders Svendsen (b. 1928). The family lived in the property at Nordre Frihavnsgade 13 with an apartment and shop in the front building and a workshop probably in the back building.
